I was trying to figure out how to create the equivalent of symbolic links to directories in Emacs to quickly get to my development directory when opening a file and found a few tools that seem great. I would write something extensive about it, except A Curious Programmer already has here.
Also, Anupam Sengupta shows a way to use Spotlight for OS X in Emacs.
